AquaSanitas -- A Centre for Water Safety and Security, facilitates the undertaking of multi-disciplinary research related to safe water and public health at the national level in Canada.

This includes participation in the interpretation of these findings for policy implementation.

The Centre will bring together researchers, industry and government institutions from across Canada to:

1. Examine the relationship between a safe and secure water supply and the protection of public health;

2. Investigate pathogen / chemical transportation, and emerging diseases, as they influence water safety;

3. Investigate mechanisms to maintain levels of safety and security in the water supply system, including assessment of the potential effects of climate change and aging infrastructure; and,

4. Recommend changes in policy and identify tools for implementation.
